The temple of Manjunatheshwara on the hills of Kadri is a very beautiful and popular temple in Mangalore. It is said to be built during the 10th or 11th century. It was converted to a complete stone structure during the 14th century. The idol of Lord Manjunathaswamy of the temple is called as oldest of the South Indian Temples.
Mangaladevi Temple (5 Kms)
Mangaladevi Temple is situated in Bolar about 3 kms from Hampankatta ( the heart of the city).The name "Mangalapura" is actually owed from this temple name Mangaladevi.Now it became Mangalore.he temple is easily accessible by city buses, autorikshaws and taxis. Pilikula is the popular name now for the pilgrims.It is about 10 kms from the mangalore city.The pilikula golf course is now fully operational and ready for use by golfers.Boating is also provided for the pilgrims.
